The Foundation was first set up by James Cash Penney in 1960.  At that time,  Mr. Penney was made aware of  Penney associates that had come across hard times and were having financial difficulties.  To date, the Foundation has distributed over eight million dollars in assistance.

The Foundation relies on donations from retired associates to help keep the Foundations financially healthy.  During these times of various problems, we are still experiencing an increase of associates that are in need of assistance.

Your help is needed now.  Please donate with a one time contribution or an ongoing  monthly amount at the link below.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The H.C.S.C. Foundation was created to assist retired JCPenney associates who have fallen on hard times.

In 1959 the H.C.S.C. Club held its first national convention in Denver in honor of Mr. Penney’s 84th birthday. During the convention it was noted that there were many retired associates who were possibly in need of financial assistance. It was decided that a foundation would be established to provide assistance to qualified associates.

Mr. Penney made a sizable contribution and, over the years, H.C.S.C. Club members have also been generous with their contributions.

The Foundation is currently providing assistance to more than 80 associates and has provided more than $8.0 million to qualified associates in need.

HOW IT WORKS

The Foundation Board members are retired associates who volunteer their time. When the Foundation receives a request for help, the Board members review the applications and then one volunteers to follow up with the applicant. The recipients and their needs are reviewed annually by Board members.

Applicants for assistance should be retired associates of JCPenney or their spouse (if the associate is deceased), be at least 60 years of age, and have at least 20 years of service with the Company.

Most assistance is given to associates who currently have a negative cash flow and are very much in need of assistance in meeting their basic needs. Some are in nursing homes and require extended care.

The application for assistance can be found at www.HCSCFoundation.com.

TESTIMONIALS

“Just a note to say thank you and your team for all that you do. I don’t take this help for granted.”

“This has been a very hard year. Your help has been a big factor in my survival.”

“Thanks so much for your assistance. With prices getting higher, it means so much to be able to count on the Foundation for help.”

“I wanted to say thank you, no single word can express how my heart felt for your help. With my pride, it was the hardest thing I ever had to do was ask for help.”

“The Foundation carefully reviewed my immediate needs, offered advice on how best it could assist, and followed through with immediate funding to assist in my many expenses.”
